The 12 Days of Christmas Giving Food Drive Challengehttp://bir.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/1265The 12 Days of Christmas Giving Food Drive Challenge
<span style="font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#cd232c;">Hello Birchview Families!

<span style="font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#cd232c;"> Our 12 Days of Christmas Giving Food Drive Challenge is back for its 6th year!

<span style="font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#cd232c;">For the last 3 years, together with Wasaga’s other elementary schools, we have raised over 34,000 items for the Wasaga Beach Ministerial Food Bank!!!

<span style="font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#cd232c;">This year is a little different, …volunteers cannot be in the schools at this time to help, “cohorts” cannot be collecting from other cohorts, but most importantly the Food Bank volunteers are elderly and at high risk during this time. So we have adapted, we must go contact-free, utilizing our school cash-on-line system, asking those who can donate a dollar-a-day. This would go a long way to helping those in need this season!

<span style="font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#cd232c;">Starting today - Tuesday, December 1st - we will be collecting a dollar a day for the Food Bank. We have a list of 12 items the Food Bank is in dire need of at this time, we took that list to the local grocery store and priced out the items to come up with a monetary donation value. For a donation of $12.00 which is just $1.00 a day over the 12 days you could help the food bank purchase these items!

<span style="font-family:"arial", sans-serif;color:#cd232c;">Let’s do our all time best this year Birchview and raise more than we ever have, this year has left so many in need! are the mask protocols that the Ministry of Education has mandated for school. For students in Kindergarten to Grade 3, face masks are encouraged but not required. For students in Grades 4-8, students are required to wear non medical face masks when inside the school building and on school buses/vans. It is recommended that students be sent with 2 masks/day and for those that do not have a mask upon entry, one will be provided by the school so they can enter the school building appropriately. For those students in Grades 4-8 who show up at their bus stop without a mask, one will be provided by the driver for them to board the bus.

<span experience symptoms while at school will be sent to the isolation room located in our school office. Parents/guardians will be contacted to pick up their child and will be advised to seek medical If you do use the Kiss and Ride lane in our parking lot, please wait until the pylons before letting children out of the vehicle. This area is sectioned off for students to safely access the yard without walking in between parked cars. Please continue to use the walk throughs on Bay Court, Caribou Trail or Dyer Drive walkways. Finally, we remind parents/guardians that they are not to enter the Bus Lane at the front of the school to drop off or pick up their child(ren) during the hours of 8:00 - 9:00am and 2:30 - 3:30pm, but to again use our Kiss and Ride area and/or park in our parking lot.

Thanks for your assistance.
