A HUGE Thank you to ALL of you for
your contributions to our 12 Days of Christmas Giving Challenge!
Over the course of the 12 school
days, starting December 1st, Birchview Dunes donated over 3700 items for the
food bank, that is over 1000 items more than we have ever collected!!! Together
with Worsley and St. Noel Chabanel we delivered 11,600 items to the Wasaga
Ministerial Food Bank yesterday!!! There was more food than they could find
room for, boxes were stacked to their ceiling! The volunteers at the food
bank were very grateful to accept the largest single donation they have ever
The Mayor of Wasaga Beach heard
about all our efforts and has asked us to relay a message from him,
he is proud of the schools and all the students for their efforts
throughout this food drive.
This was also a friendly
challenge between Wasaga's 3 schools to see who could raise the most items per
student, and it was a very close call between all 3 schools, but the school
with the highest number of items per student was St. Noel Chabanel
with 8.6 items per student!!! However, in the end it's the community that has
won this year with the over 11,600 items delivered to the food bank!
Thank you to the students for their
contributions, to the student leaders who helped collect food throughout the
challenge, to the grade 8's who helped load the food into the trailer, and to
the volunteers who gave their time to sort, count and box every day for 12
days! We couldn't have pulled of this outstanding result without all of you!
"During the holidays, no child
or parent, no family or individual should ever be hungry."
What a way to end 2017! Wishing you
all a very happy holiday season!
Sincerely, Birchview Dunes School
